A website that builds itself from your WrkLst archive.
Built from your records, never copied.
The website is built inside WrkLst. Works, artists and exhibitions become its pages by themselves — one rule shows every work you publish, so nothing is entered twice. Editorial pages, from the about page to a text on an artist, are built from blocks: a slider, image with text, a works grid, lists of exhibitions, fairs and artists, posts, products, documents and CVs, videos, a search, an enquiry form and a newsletter signup. Each block takes its content from WrkLst or holds your own, and stands in a left, centred or full-width column, so everything on a page lines up.
One click drafts your first pages: Home, Artists, Exhibitions, Works and Contact. Every artist, exhibition and work on your website gets its page from one layout for its kind, and any single page can be edited on its own. For each artist you pick the works their page shows from their own works — each with its picture, title, year, price and availability — and drag them into order, and choose a cover picture and a line under their name, such as where they live and work; for each show, the title as your website prints it. The Website section of every work, artist and exhibition shows where it appears on your site and publishes its page. Set a whole basket of works at once: shown or hidden, price shown, hidden or on request, Enquire or only look. Lists of works, exhibitions and products load as the visitor scrolls, however long they are.
Every page opens as it looks, at computer, tablet or phone size, before it goes out. Publish one page or all of them by hand — a line shows how far the publish has got and about how long is left — or let the site keep itself up to date every hour or every night. A page you are reworking can keep its published version online until you publish it again, and while someone edits a page, colleagues can read it but not change it. Every publish is kept: the last ten published versions can be restored or downloaded as a complete copy.

EnquireFour themes, in your gallery’s look.
Choose the theme your website is drawn in: Gallery Classic, with its large titles; Index, with small capitals and a column of labels; Tribeca, with condensed capitals on a light grey wall; or Pacific Standard, with a plain sans-serif, bold labels and pictures in 8:5 panels, in white or black. Switch whenever you like — your pages, colours and logos stay as they are, and the new theme goes online when you publish.
Within the theme, the look is yours: your logo as a sharp SVG and a tab icon, your colours, and type pairings such as Cormorant Garamond, Playfair Display, EB Garamond or DM Sans. The menu stands at the top or in a column at the side; the footer is laid out in rows and columns with your texts, opening hours, address and directions, the menu, the languages, a newsletter signup and a copyright line. Let visitors choose light or dark, decide how each part of a page comes into view, and take the same logo, typefaces and colours over into your presentations.
A theme of your own, made for your gallery alone — your typefaces and your layout, built with you on the WrkLst website — is available on request.

News, videos, documents and a search.
Posts
News, events, videos, press
Under Website › Posts you keep your own lists, of any type you name, and decide what each post carries: a text, a date, a picture, a video, a link, a document. A post mapped to an artist or a show appears on their pages too; a Posts block lists them with a filter, a search and the featured posts first.
Video
Films that play on the page
A Video block plays a video on any page, with a still before it plays. Upload it with WrkLst Video, or paste a YouTube or Vimeo address, whose player loads only when a visitor asks for it.
Documents
CVs and press, to download
Switch on Show on websites for a document, and an artist’s or exhibition’s page offers it for download — an artist’s CV, or a press clipping on a news item.
Shows and artists
Pages with depth
A show’s page can carry the title of its press release, headings with links to its sections, its works as a two-column mosaic and the news that mention it; an artist’s page gains their news, exhibitions and shop items. An Artists block can list the artists you represent first.
Fairs
Fairs apart from exhibitions
An exhibition list can leave the fairs out or show only them, so your website has an Exhibitions page and a Fairs page — and each fair can have a page of its own.
Search
A search for your site
A Search block lets visitors search your artists, exhibitions, fairs, works and pages, and the menu can link to it.
Every enquiry becomes a lead.
Every work carries its own website settings: show the price, hide it, or show Price on request — and show whether it is available. Only the price you choose is published, never the others, and a confidential, unconfirmed or consignment price is never shown: the work reads Price on request instead. For each work you decide whether visitors can enquire or only look, and you can add a short public note, such as ‘Framed’. Availability is shown live. When a work’s price, pictures or details change, the pages that show it update on their own, usually within a few minutes; the pages you edit go online when you publish. Prices and owners never leave WrkLst unless you choose so, work by work, and nothing confidential is published.
An Enquire button sits on the works you choose, and an enquiry form can stand on any page — your contact page, for example. Each enquiry arrives in Leads, the sales funnel in WrkLst, with the works it names — no separate inbox, and no contact created until you decide. Your English pages write Enquire or Inquire, as you prefer. With Website Complete, a newsletter signup on any page or in the footer fills your Mailchimp or MailerLite list, and password-protected viewing rooms show a selection to the people you choose.
With Website Complete your website can also sell. The WrkLst shop sells your own products — made under Website › Products with pictures, prices, stock and shipping rates by country — and any work you set to Buy on the website, paid through your own Stripe or your Shopify checkout, with no commission from us. Every paid order becomes a sale with its contact, the buyer receives a confirmation, and Website › Orders marks it as shipped with the tracking. With tax assistance on, the checkout charges the tax that follows from your answers and the buyer’s address — see Tax assistance.
Or connect your Shopify shop and sell through it, one or the other at a time: a work set to Buy on Shopify shows Shopify’s price and a Buy button, or Sold out once it has sold, and products that are not works — books, editions, prints — get pages of their own under /shop/, kept up to date every night. Visitors gather works and products in a cart and check out in one go, and your shop’s shipping, refund and terms policies become pages of the website. Availability can also be switched off for the whole website: visitors then see no available, reserved or sold marks and can still enquire.

What a WrkLst website includes
Connected
Built from your archive
Works with images, captions and alt texts, artists, biographies and exhibitions come from your account — entered once, current everywhere.
Fast
Fast pages, stored in Germany
Every page is prepared in advance, stored in Germany and delivered through a worldwide network, so it opens at once wherever the visitor is.
Beautiful
Large, responsive images
Images that centre-stage the artwork, at the size the screen allows — never filtered, never dimmed.
True to scale
View in Room and augmented reality
Collectors see a work in a room at its real size, as a box with its image or as its 3D model, and on a phone or tablet place it on their own wall or floor through the camera. You choose what is offered for each work, and in which order.
Findable
Search-ready structure
Real pages with full metadata, structured data for artworks, artists and exhibitions, and sitemaps — eligible for search engines and AI answer engines. Each page can have its own title and description for search results, or stay out of search; services that collect pages to train AI are asked to stay away.
Counted
Visitors, without cookies
Website › Visitors shows how many people visit your website, where they come from on a map, which pages they look at and for how long — counted without cookies and without keeping anything that identifies a person.
Accessible
WCAG 2.2 AA, and more
Built to WCAG 2.2 AA, plus twelve AAA criteria the theme guarantees, with an accessibility statement in every language of your site.
Multilingual
Several languages
Your site in the languages you choose, right-to-left included, with translation help; a machine translation stays out of search until someone has reviewed it.
Comfortable
Light and dark
A dark mode that follows the visitor’s system or their choice, on one site for every screen, from the phone at the fair to the desktop in the office.
Private
Confidential stays private
Only what you mark for the website leaves WrkLst. An artist appears only once they have agreed to be shown, and so do their works. Confidential artists show only their name, and a price or an owner is never published without your say. What you hide or delete leaves the site at once.
Reachable
Enquiries as leads
Enquiry forms with a spam check that needs no puzzle, arriving in Leads; newsletter sign-ups with double opt-in. You switch enquiries on, and the form appears once the privacy policy that describes it is online.
In order
Legal pages written for you
Your imprint and privacy policy are written for you from your account’s details, and the site goes online only with both.
Programmed to your design.
A bespoke website is designed and built from the ground up: your own design and typeface, your own structure, with the content integration your gallery, studio or foundation needs. It can run on another system connected directly to WrkLst — Laravel, Sanity, Shopify or Shopware, for example — and bring in the tools you already use, so the website becomes part of your workflow rather than a copy of it. We discuss the scope with you and quote the work before it starts.
The Los Angeles-based Anat Ebgi Gallery’s website, for example, draws its content straight from WrkLst, refined to improve both the gallery’s work behind the scenes and the visitor’s experience; Vielmetter Los Angeles’ entire IT infrastructure was built in tandem with WrkLst itself; and louisefishman.org is another bespoke site that runs on it. Many of our bespoke projects are developed with Konstantin Haubrok — strategist, digital product developer and editor — who takes on structure and brand development for them; his projects are at haubrok.co. On request we also work with outside design studios: we have working relationships with established houses and are open to your suggestion.

Your own website, your own team.
You manage and maintain your own WordPress website, or another website system, and have your own team to connect it? For WordPress we offer a ready-made plugin, free of charge: images with captions and alt texts and the artist biographies, straight from your account. For any other system we offer a direct connection that reads and writes the same records — works, contacts, exhibitions, media and more — so your website can fully integrate with WrkLst.
The plugin is free and openly available — install it today and start working with it right away. If you later move to Website Complete, we import what you built on the plugin and redirect your old addresses.

Your content stays yours.
The works, artists and exhibitions on a WrkLst website live in your archive, and the archive can be downloaded in full as one file (SQL dump) at any time, like everything else you enter. The last ten published versions of the site can be downloaded as a complete copy. With Website Data your own developer builds on the same content, and the WordPress plugin stays free for the site you keep.
